Police interview skills

Country: Portugal

Police interview skills

The Escola de Polícia Judiciária (Judiciary Police Training School of Portugal) has identified that conversational skills of police officers are among the more difficult skills to train in criminal investigation, particularly when it comes to interrogatory inter-personal conversations to collect reliable and relevant personal proof (of non-material nature). The core skills involved are the ability to determine the profile of the person, choosing the right communication strategy and sensibility to recover from wrong choices before losing the control of the conversation. RAGE will help to enhance these skills among police officers by developing an applied game that provides first-hands experience for them and testing tools to measure its effectiveness as well as officers’ appreciations.
